What is a health coach?
A health coach is someone who asks pointed questions and holds you to your highest self. They are able to hold you accountable, helping you get the results you want. It’s the difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it. Someone who helps you build healthy habits that align with how you want to feel every day.
What is a life coach?
A life coach challenges you to question how you approach every aspect of your life. Someone who unlocks your potential so you are empowered to create anything you desire. They inspire you to change the way you live day-to-day to be more aligned with who you want to be. A life coach is a guide, cheerleader, accountability partner, confidante, and truth-teller who can help you hone in on what you want and then works with you to set achievable goals to get there.
Why is it important to be both a health and life coach?
A dual trained health and life coach is well equipped to help you in all areas of your life, not just your health. A health coach is trained in health, but might not have the toolbox to help in other areas. A life coach is trained in life areas but might not have the tools to help you in the area of your health. Being both a health and life coach means that I am trained in both and can transform all areas of your life.
Aren’t you just a therapist, doctor, nutritionist, dietitian, personal trainer, (insert other professional here) without a degree?
Firstly, I am trained with Health Coach Institute, so to say that I didn’t complete any education to be a coach is a myth. Furthermore, I believe in collaboration, I am not in competition with the various other professionals. Instead, I can bridge the gap between your 15 minute doctor appointment that happens a few times a year, and provide you with the support and accountability to achieve the actions that your doctor wants you to take. I don’t diagnose, prescribe, or treat any illnesses. I merely help you to achieve your goals and hold you to your highest self.
I can’t afford your programs.
Please message me. You can email, call, or send a message through the contact page. I offer discounts for paying in full, but I also offer monthly or shorter term payment plans. I can do this on a case by case basis, and am happy to work with you and your budget based on what you are able to afford.
Why isn’t coaching covered or regulated by health insurance?
The truth is that some insurance policies do cover coaching. As of when this site was published however, I do not work with insurance companies. At this point in time, no state has established a specific license need for health coaching. This is due to the fact that health coaches do not pose any threat to public health in general (indeed we are quite the opposite) which makes regulation unnecessary. That said, there is the International Coaching Federation (ICF) which does regulate and is the gold standard of credentialing for health coaches. My training through Health Coach Institute is accredited through ICF’s Continuing Coach Education program. ICF is the only globally recognized, independent credentialing program for coach practitioners.
You’re a life coach, so that means you must have it all together all of the time.
This is just a myth. I don’t believe that I am better than anyone else, and being a life coach does not mean that I have to have it all together all of the time. I am invested in self growth and constantly considering how I can improve.
